Ways To Pay For School

Although improved earnings after graduation can pay for the cost of school many times over, the initial barrier of tuition, books and lost income can seem daunting or even deal-breaking, especially to students already stretched thin by low income jobs or other financial commitments.

Several funding sources exist to help students meet the challenge:

Scholarships/Bursaries

Bank loans will help fund your studies, but you may have to pay the interest while you’re in school.

You may be eligible if you fit into one of these categories:
- Unemployed or working less than an average of 20 hours/week
- Have a current or previous Employment Insurance (EI) claim
- Employed individuals who are low skilled or a lower income individual or family with dependent
child(ren)
- An individual who is about to lose your job

Government Student Loans

* For students who qualify
Interest-free while you are in school – that’s a significant benefit!
If you qualify for Manitoba Student Aid:
The program provides supplemental assistance but it might not cover all costs.
You and your family may be expected to contribute.
Maximum is $350 per week but not everyone gets the maximum.
You have to provide information to support your request for financial assistance.
Most assistance is in the form of loans you have to pay back.

Schedules that work

Robertson College schedules its classes to be over by 1:30 PM on weekdays to allow students who choose to do so the chance to work part time evening or weekend hours during their course.

Flexible Payment Plans

For some students who continue working during their program, the college can arrange to set up a payment plan to pay as you go. Come in and talk to a Student Admissions Counsellor to discuss funding options available.
